SUMMARY: New York—US ethanol maker Aventine Renewable Energy Holdings expects to start production this month at a new 108 million gal/year plant in Mt. Vernon, Indiana, the company said. Aventine’s move is part of a push to get new production online to meet growing US renewables mandates, which will chip away at already meager gasoline demand. “Rising ethanol blending will overtake much of the growth in US demand in the coming two years, at the expense of demand for petroleum fuels,” said analysts at Energy Security Analysis Incorporated (ESAI) in a recent report.
